We at Expedia are thrilled to announce the launch of the 2nd edition of the MustLoveFestivals ebook! For those who don’t know, MustLoveFestivals is a collaboration of 18 of the world’s top travel bloggers; together, they have travelled to 16 countries and over 75 festivals in order to find the most unusual, most exciting, and most fun festivals around the globe.
“When researching for the book, we realised that most people associate festivals with music, mud, summer, and camping. To try and shake off this common preconception, with the support of Expedia, we set off to discover and share the stories of slightly lesser known and quirky festivals around the world,” says Kash Bhattacharya, founder of MustLoveFestivals and of the popular travel blog Budget Traveller.
Because of the success of the first ebook, which highlighted festivals around Europe, the second ebook was able to go global, this time covering countries outside of the European continent as well. Whether you’re after food festivals, film festivals, family-friendly festivals, or even more niche festivals that celebrate writers or art, the MustLoveFestivals ebook covers them all. Of course, there are also some music festivals covered, that staple of the British summer.
But what MustLoveFestivals tries to encourage is for people to explore the variety of festival options the world offers – there’s a lot more to festivals than the big name events that sell out months in advance. No matter the season, there’s always a wide range of festivals to attend. It’s a great way to see a different side to a place, and to get outside the principle tourist cities or activities, therefore experiencing a much more local way of life when you travel. This winter, for example, you might want to check out the Staro Riga festival in Latvia, which is a fantastic display of light shows and art objects coinciding with the Latvian Independence anniversary celebrations (November 17th to 20th). Or perhaps you’d like to ring in the new year in Dublin, where the New Year’s Festival takes place, allowing people to access dozens of activities and events.
Whatever you’re after, there’s a festival to suit you. Check out your options and read about the world’s best festivals by downloading the MustLoveFestivals 2nd ebook here! You can also read about previous festivals in our blog’s archives for inspiration.
